Stitchcraft, the popular knitting and needlecraft magazine published by Condé Nast, produced its Coronation Knitting Number in April 1953 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation on June 2^nd. Instructions were given for a tablecloth embroidered with cut-work roses, shamrocks, thistles and leeks, a jumper decorated with a lion and unicorn, a cross-stitch scene of Windsor castle, and other projects designed ‘to capture the coronation atmosphere.’ (See Additional Images)
