1936-37

Rayon

Printed scarves of bias-cut silk or rayon, worn knotted around the neck with the ends variously arranged, were ubiquitous accessories of the 1930s. This example, printed with very approximate likenesses of the coronation crown and the lion rampant in the patriotic colours of royal blue, red and white, was probably produced as a souvenir for George VI ‘s coronation in 1937.
